May 21, 2010 - The 77th operating session was one for the record books. It started off before the session with a presentation developed by Dick and read by Wayland concerning Buford, Burt and Bubba Sperry and the REAL origin of the Sperry rail inspection car. It then proceeded With the White Hall yardmaster holding up #110 to place a few more cars on it causing a disruption to the schedule. Next was an engine assignment to the Broadway Turn that required the turn crew to triple the hill! Then came the Hood turn with three more cars than the maximum allowed out of White Hall which caused problems at Flat Top and Hood. Next was a foul up by the dispatcher by allowing the Broadway Turn up to Hopkins Springs and then following it with #5 with no place to go. Then came the track inspection extra. To say that traffic was heavy in Hood would be a major understatement. After the Broadway Turn finally go to Hopkins Spring in its entirety the crew made a career of it for the rest of the session. And the CEO made a comment about having the FQOs recertify on a regular basis. Now there's a thought! The session ended with none of the N&W interchange cars getting placed on the N&W interchange. Pity the engineer assigned to the next #131 who will most likely be the same engineer that created the mess!
