April 16, 2011 - The 75th OPS session was the "SLOT MAX" session! But more on that later. This session was also different because Marlene and I had an earlier than normal commitment this evening. So we started at 10:00 AM in the layout room and then broke for lunch at 11:30. First the CEO traveled to Lacey Springs to make arrangements for the Fourth of July celebrations. This disrupted traffic between White Hall and Broadway for the first couple of hours and of course required the use of the Kipper to ensure everything was in proper order for the CEO's passage. But surprisingly everyone handled the situation and most of the session ran on schedule. Howard gets the award for farthest traveled when he came down from Pennsylvania to take on the operator duties. Jerry was assigned the Broadway turn which, as expected, turned out to be very long on its return to White Hall. Now for the SLOT MAX issue. When I tried to acquire the Kipper for the CEO's return to White Hall I got the dreaded SLOT MAX message. I have the command station setup to purge unused addresses and this process has been working flawlessly for over six years. But today it didn't. I was still getting the three beeps that indicate addresses were being purged but obviously they weren't. An attempt to purge all of the command station data by resetting switch 39 did not seem to work. This will require another letter to Digitrax to see what might be going on. Luckily I had purchased another command station after the SLEEP MODE fiasco last year and just replaced the one in service with the new one and we were back in business. On to the next session!
