September 8, 2010 - The 66th operating session on the E&P was the first run under timetable W5 and the first to experience a major failure! Timetable W5 was created to add 20 minutes to the prep time for #121 and #131 to give these engineers more time to sort the incoming interchange cars. The CEO was traveling from White Hall to the steamer in Thorny Point and so her private car Easton on train #1 departed White Hall at 6:00 am. Of course this required the use of the Kipper (the MOW track inspection car) to make sure the switches and signals at Flat Top and Hood were in proper alignment for the arrival of #1. The next Thorny Point yardmaster is going to have a full yard to start his day with the CEO's car and engine in town! Everything was going well (except for maybe Thorny Point) and we were ready for #110 to depart White Hall when word came from Thorny Point they had lost power. It appeared everyone had lost power! However the track was showing a normal power status? The throttles would acquire the addresses but none of the addressed decoders would respond to the throttles. Moving an engine to my test track attached to an NCE system worked. The DB150 appears to have stopped sending the codes to the rails. We got almost half the session run before the party pooper showed up. Wayland is bringing his command station over to replace mine to see if the problems go away and I suspect they will. At least we got the CEO to the steamer!
