March 16, 2019 held the 162nd OPS session and it was an intense session. It started with my knee getting inflamed about 1/2 hour before the session. Then I had Train Order system issues. Next came radio issues. Then things settled down for most of the session. And that was good since this session moved quite a few cars. Cars had been backing up during previous sessions and customers were not able to make their shipments. So extra cars had been left in Hopkins Spring for the Broadway Turn and a lot of cars were in White Hall that needed to get out to customers. We ran four Hood Turns, which was a record. On top of all of this the CEO traveled to Stanley at 6:00 AM and a MOW train ran to Furnace to drop off and pick up some MOW cars. The superintendent return on the RF&P interchange and traveled to White Hall via train 11. Bill started a career in Stanley that cause most of the passenger schedule to be over two hours late. All of this activity allow dispatcher Jerry to write a record setting 35 orders. In spite of all of this the crew performed extremely well. White Hall was able to keep up and the turns were able to handle the extra load. We got a lot of cars off the layout and the per diem expense went down much to management's delight!
