February 17, 2018 - This was the first session with keep alives on most of the engines and it appears they were a success. A little more tweaking may be needed on some engines to get to where I want to be on reliability. This was the second session under the new schedule and the new schedule appears to be a success. The Broadway Turn is getting to finish in a reasonable time, the passenger trains are running pretty much on time, and the session is running within the twelve fast clock hours. In fact the session is running about an hour shorter at three hours. This is where I wanted the session lengths to be. So all in all a success. I opened the session by going over all of the mistakes from the previous session. I had concerns that taking the time to go over the previous session's mistakes may prevent us from having enough time to run today's session. But alas we were able to get it in. And a good session it was! Changes to the Train Order system will probably be made before the next session. The most frequent one off train order is setting up meets. I think I will add an option to the Train Order system to automatically generate the text for these meets. This should free up some of the dispatcher's scarce and valuable time.
