July 16, 2016 - The 141st session was home to the momentous occasion of Wayland Moore's 100th session. A ceremony was held to commemorate Wayland's accomplishment. Then it was on to the session. Early on in the session Dick make the prediction that this would be the longest session on record and I believe he was correct. Train 30 was late leaving White Hall and that caused a cascading effect on everything else. (That and the fact that management got involved and started holding trains until orders were written or scheduled trains cleared.) Jerry spent most of his time waiting in White Hall with the Hood Turn. And Mike was kept busy writing orders to try and keep things at least appearing to make progress. White Hall saw a 17 car Thorny Point Extra arrive. They were ecstatic! And Dick called in management to do some investigation into what his engine was catching on while trying to get into the round house. What is was catching on was the tender of the engine already in its proper roundhouse location. After going back on the turntable and aligning for the proper roundhouse track Dick's engine went smoothly into its stall. It was a good thing management was there to help. E&P sessions are setup to last three hours. This one lasted four and one half hours and we only got one out of five Hood Turns run and didn't finish the Southern or N&W interchange runs. As for the layout we had some electrical issues with a ladder track switch in White Hall and the Crooked Run trestle decided to not make electrical contact at either end. Both were fixed at least for now. And engine #30 the camel back seems to have lost its ability to get five cars up the hill out of White Hall. This will be looked into and if it can not be fixed #30 will be retired. Now on to the next session!
