The best description for the 132nd session held on September 19th, 2015 is deferred maintenance. On the positive side the radio issues seemed to have gone away. But beyond that three of the six bridge tracks decided to not provide electrical contact to the motive power. The passenger engine could not get it's consist (which consisted of one extra baggage car) up the hill from Thorny Point to Hood. And I missed an error check in the new train order system which required a work-a-round to keep this system running. So before the next session (which is supposed to be an OPS Weekend session) I need to get to work and do some maintenance.
Now for the operations side of this session. The session started with the typical crew meeting. But a surprise presentation to management of 10,000 shares of MQA, INC. stock and two gold Krugerrands will go far to offsetting the cost of management's recent research trip to Greenland, Iceland and Norway. We had an apprentice, Bob Stringer, at this session and his performance was equal to, if not exceeding, that of the FQOs. (But this is typical.) White Hall yard seemed to be a challenge but those challenges did not delay the schedule any more than usual. Even with all the maintenance issues and the yard challenges the crew was able to keep all of the trains within their two hour window. Which the dispatcher always appreciates.
