October 18, 2014 was the date of the 121st session and WOW what a session it was! To start with we had our third apprentice, Erwin attending. Then long time attendees Glenn and Bill (aka Cookie Monster) got lost on their way to the session!? Go explain that. After we managed to get everyone through lunch and into the crew lounge, dispatcher Bill got the session going. Since there appeared to Bill to be a break in the action early in the session, he decided to run the work extra to Furnace to fill the water tower and pickup a MOW car from the siding. However that blocked the N&W interchange #131 from being able to keep to its scheduled until Dick got Extra 32 into the old siding at Furnace. Then the White Hall yard crew decided NOT to pay any attention to the arriving passenger train #11 and managed to throw all of the passenger trains behind their schedule by over two hours which resulted in quite a bit of order writing for the dispatcher. Bill did an excellent job of trying to write the more complex orders for all of the extras. And this was the first session where trains actually received orders that altered their schedule and meeting points. While the session ran long (about four hours) I was pleased with the efforts on everyone's part to try and run in a true TT/TO environment. And not forgetting the apprentice, Erwin did an excellent job and hopefully had a good time. His parting comments were "my brain is scrambled and I can't think". I guess that is the sign of a good session.
