November 17, 2012 was the 100th session! Hard to believe it went by that quick. And what a session it was! After a lunch of salad, standing rib roast, baked potato, marinated vegetables, artichokes, rolls and chocolate mousse representing lunches 639 through 652 and before the session started the attendees held a very nice appreciation/roasting session where accolades, insults and gifts were showered on the CEO and Superintendent. The CEO and Superintendent received a commemorative coin, a commemorative plaque, commemorative toilet paper, a gift certificate to Opus 9 in Williamsburg and cash to spend in the casino on our next cruise with the caveat that any winnings must come back to the donators. There was even a letter from the mayor of Hood. After a group picture we went to the crew lounge to start what was supposed to be a routine session. Since it was the 100th I accepted all 13 of the FQOs that signed up. So we had more than enough crews and the crew lounge stayed crowded. To keep the crew in waiting entertained I played some old train tapes of the Pennsy, NYC and UP among others. Charles was assigned to the dispatcher's desk for what looked to be a day with the normal clearances and orders. But that all changed when engine #42 assigned to #30 broke down at Furnace. What ensued changed the rest of the day! And Wayland brought a small camera he mounted on a flat car in front of train #121 and took some videos of #121 in Broadway and #121 just east of Swift Run.
